The 84th Saudi National Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Alif International School, Riyadh. Students were excited to be in the traditional Saudi attire. Though this is an international school with children from various countries, the campus was exactly looking like a meeting place of Saudi gathering as the whole campus came in Saudi traditional dressing.
Folk dance items, including sword dance, Arabic and group songs, and solidarity ballet were performed as part of the program. Principal K.C. Shaijal, teachers, including Aymon Khan, Sonia Musthafa and Head Girl Husna Nellingal, were the architects of the event.
Al-Waha International School in Jeddah celebrated the National Day with a range of activities involving students and teachers.
Students presented their feelings toward the beloved Kingdom by presenting attractive programs highlighting Saudi culture, history and heritage.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, which was followed by a speech from junior and high school students on the history of Saudi Arabia and Saudi National Day as well as the screening of a documentary depicting the Kingdom’s history presented by the students.
The schoolchildren presented the traditional dance wearing Saudi traditional dresses whereas some of the other students dressed up in green sang patriotic songs, drawing applause from the audience.
Moreover, a week-long competition for ‘best comment’ on Saudi Arabia was organized and the results were announced during the celebration ceremony. All the winners received prizes.
Similarly, the junior school held a quiz competition and the winners were announced. In addition to this, the children marked the big day by planting saplings to promote a Green Waha.
The venue was decorated with Saudi flags and banners. The burning of incense and distribution of dates as well as traditional food marked the event.
This celebration gave students an opportunity to learn the history, culture and traditions of the Kingdom. Saleh Al-Ghamdi, boy section’s principal, congratulated the Kingdom and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for all its efforts and said: “The program was distinctive this year as many students have become increasingly supportive of the celebrations. Students from different nationalities have jointly organized events to mark this special national occasion.”
She added that such celebrations teach the children all about unity and encourage them to live in peace and harmony.
